We are happy to announce that on 14-16 November 2017, SIM-CI will attend the Smart City Expo in Barcelona, Spain.  This congress tackles a variety of  the 21st century challenges  related to urbanization, with topics ranging from urban governance and cyber threats to mobility for commuters. Interesting speakers include the Executive Director of UN Habitat, CIOs of cities like Chicago and New York, and mayors of cities such as Düsseldorf and Fukuoka.

More than ever, what happens in cities is shaping our world. The future of the world’s urban population will mostly be built in our lifetimes. The challenges we face are immense and only by working together will we be able to tackle them. – Fira Barcelona

At the Dutch Pavilion, several Dutch cities – Eindhoven, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Amersfoort, Amsterdam and The Hague – will be co-presenting their strategies and ideas with regards to mobility, the changing labor market, climate change and energy efficiency. These cities are currently leading the “national Smart City initiative” in The Netherlands and working closely together to invest in sustainable, economically viable urban development. To find out more information about how these cities cooperate with each other, please download the NL Smart City Report.

SIM-CI will attend the congress in a partnership with the City of The Hague, with its main focus on ‘Safety & Security’. Apart from giving a number of inspiring keynotes and presentations, SIM-CI will also be giving VR demonstrations to illustrate how its simulations can be utilized to face the challenges posed by complex urban processes.
